Planning Meeting:

Please attend if you'd like to be involved.  On the agenda are 1) spring break volunteering trips, and 2) planning a donation drive to help Southern University in New Orleans rebuild.

Terman Engineering Building, Room 302

Spring Break in New Orleans:

Two off-campus organizations, Voices of Katrina and the Common Ground Collective, are inviting students to come to New Orleans to partcipate in a service-learning trip during their spring breaks. Common Ground Collective will provide basic but secure housing and three family-style meals per day. In return, students will assist in the rebuilding of the area's most devastated communities. Specifically, volunteers will be gutting, cleaning, and repairing houses, as well as distributing food, water and clothing to residents. Students will be able to apply studies in law, medicine, and other specialized courses of study towards the rebuilding needs of the community through work with Common Ground's legal team, medical clinic, and construction crews. Students of any and all backgrounds and skill levels will find opportunities to contribute towards the rebuilding effort.  For more information, see: http://www.commongroundrelief.org

Donation Drive Success--thanks to volunteers and donors!

Katrina Relief @ Stanford's three donation drives (household items, gift cards, and school supplies) collected a huge number of items for hurricane victims.  Items were shipped to hurricane survivors in-need via our partnership with UPS.  Thanks to everyone who made these drives happen!  The Immediate Needs committee will coordinate future drives.

Stanford Alum Requests Donations to Help Teachers: Brita Lobbardi ('94) is the Executive Vice President of DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit that links teachers and donors. Since last week, they've received more than 150 teacher requests for classroom resources needed to aid Hurricane Katrina victims.  Please visit their website to donate:  http://www.DonorsChoose.org.

Alumni Association: The Alumni Association has created a special online clearinghouse for Stanford alumni to help other members of the Stanford family. To offer your support or to list a specific need, please go to this special section of the alumni-only community site, inCircle, by visiting:
